How to Manage Kundalini: The Inner Fire

Kundalini is like a fire burning within us. Its energy resembles a flame, and just like a real fire, it can burn with different levels of intensity.

If the flame burns too weakly, we may feel that we are making little progress on our spiritual journey. If it burns too intensely, it can begin to overwhelm our everyday lives, bringing headaches, insomnia, and exhaustion. In my own case, this exhaustion was also accompanied by weight gain.

The key is to adjust the intensity of Kundalini to the stage of life we are in and to what our body can handle.

When Kundalini Burns Too Weakly

When the flame is too weak, we may want to give it more fuel. Practices such as Dragon Breath or kriyas can help us intensify our spiritual practice.

The goal is not to push ourselves endlessly, but to give our practice the intensity we feel it needs.

When Kundalini Burns Too Intensely

Sometimes the opposite happens: the flame becomes too strong for our body to keep up with.

In such moments, it is worth slowing down our practice and allowing ourselves to rest. External factors, such as a cool shower, may also help us feel calmer.

I believe that many people experience a situation in which the body struggles to keep up with the intensity of the inner process. Learning when to slow down is therefore just as important as knowing when to move forward.

If you experience persistent headaches, insomnia, or exhaustion, do not ignore them or assume they are simply part of Kundalini. Reducing demanding practices and seeking medical advice when necessary are important ways to take care of yourself.

The Power of Intention

In my understanding, Kundalini is an energy that we can influence consciouslyIt is, in a way, an intelligent process that responds to deep intention.

But there is a difference between a passing thought and a genuine intention.

Thinking slow down or speed up is not the same as deeply intending to slow down or accelerate the process. It is about a more profound decision, one that comes from within rather than from a single passing thought.

Learning to work with intention is part of learning to manage Kundalini.

Kundalini Has Its Own Momentum

Think again about a campfire.

When you add a large amount of dry wood, the fire does not immediately die down just because you stop adding fuel. The wood that is already burning must burn out before the flames begin to subside.

The same principle works in the opposite direction. Sometimes we want Kundalini to burn more intensely, but we have not given it enough fuel.

This is why timing and patience matter. We need to understand not only what we want to happen, but also the state of the fire we are working with.

How Do You Manage Kundalini?

For me, managing Kundalini means learning when to add fuel and when to let the fire settle. It means respecting the body’s capacity while consciously directing the process through intention.

How do you manage your Kundalini? Do you find it easier to intensify the flame or to slow it down?
